How to Care for Silicone Toys
Caring for 100% platinum silicone toys is very simple.
Use soap and warm water. (Read Just Say No to Toy Cleaner.) Let air dry or dry with a lint-free cloth before storing. Alternately, you may put 100% silicone toys in the top rack of your dishwasher (on regular cycle) to clean as long as they are not vibrators or have any electronic parts.
Soak for 15 minutes in a 10% bleach solution (that’s 90% water & 10% bleach), then rinse & dry. Alternately, you may boil 100% silicone toys for 3 minutes as long as they are not vibrators and don’t have any electronic parts.
Silicone naturally attracts dust particles so it is best to store each toy in a separate pouch or wrapped in a piece of fabric. Satin materials work nicely. It is important not to store silicone toys directly against any other types of rubber or jelly or especially other silicone toys– because there is a chance of a chemical reaction causing them to melt together into one Franken-toy (some of us learned this the hard way, unfortunately).
Never use silicone-based lube on silicone toys because there is a chance that it could damage the toy. But I don’t recommend silicone lube in the first place (See Toxic Lube Warning). Always use water-based lube. Water-based Sliquid Organics is highly recommended.
